Early Morning Wake-ups
Liliana Amaro
Human sleep is coordinated by the build-up of sleep need (tiredness) over time, and the circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm is your internal biological clock; it controls the timing of many events in your baby’s body, including your baby’s biological bedtime and biological wake time.
The Myth: Putting your baby down early may backfire and doing a sleep intervention past a certain time in the morning may be pointless.
It’s really important to understand how the circadian rhythm works in order to make sure that you are asking your baby to sleep when he/she is capable of sleeping.
A circadian rhythm promote waking up so early due to the light exposure. Our circadian rhythms reset to light exposure, and we are particularly sensitive to light in the morning, just a tiny change in the lighting in your baby’s room may lead to a ‘locked-in’ early waking. By making the room dark today won’t mean tomorrow your baby will wake up later straight away, but in a few days you will see improvement.
It is important that you know that there are other issues related to Early Morning Wake-ups sometimes you baby has had 8, 9 or 10 hours of sleep, then his/her sleep drive will be restored and won’t feel the same pressure to sleep longer, also sleep is very light in the early morning hours, so it’s easy to wake up to a very soft noise or due to a little tummy rumble or wet diaper. All of these things can prevent your baby from sleeping in later even when he/she has the circadian ability to sleep later.
Now if Early Morning Wakeups is not the only issue, then is time to revise the routine, schedules and changes to implement www.zzleepmybaby.com can help.
